MIKE GARRY & THE CASSIA STRING QUARTET will perform at St Mary's Church on Wednesday May 13th
Mikes poetry focuses on Manchester and its people, championing the underdog and finding beauty amongst the ugliness, triumph amongst tragedy.
Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays recently described his work as “The best street poetry I’ve ever heard”.
Mike and the Cassia quartet have performed intermittently for 10 years.
They had a UK number one hit with "St Anthony" and have collaborated with artists as diverse as New Order, The Charlatans and New York minimalist composer Philip Glass.
Their combination of spoken word and classical music has created an entirely new sound.
Mike Joyce of The Smiths commented "No words by me or anyone can truly describe how unique they are to see live"
We are thrilled to welcome this unique collaboration to the beautiful environs of St Mary's Church for a completely unique night.
